Winter Blues
Posted by Annalise
at 3:32 PM:
Winter descended, much like the mould in the bathroom. It's a little bit colder, a little bit damper, a little bit windy-er (windier?). It's not winter in the traditional Canadian sense, but it's still a version of winter, and it has a way of seeping in. Perhaps it's that it gets dark quite early, or that there's not as many events on. Perhaps it's that the houses aren't insulated properly, so it feels like winter both inside and outside... who knows.
All I know is I'm getting bored of my routine, as expected in winter. Dance classes, experimental cooking and weekend walks don't quite seem to be filling the gaps. I'm anticipating the trip in August to Rarotonga, and trying to keep busy.

A Boozy Saturday Night
Posted by Annalise
at 9:38 PM:
Last night after the reunion I went to Megan's. We chilled and drank a bottle of wine. She got ready, and I mangled my hair with her hair straightener. She fixed my hair, we called a taxi, and eventually we arrived at Suze's.
We met up with Mat, Jono, Suze and her new boy, Brady. A few bottles of wine later and we devoured home-made burritos. It was the Jono celebrity roast, the tech corner and the celebrity gossip section all rolled into one. It was a great night.
Eventually, Mat and I stumbled our way to the night bus and went home. All in all a good night.

The 60th Reunion
Posted by Annalise
at 4:18 PM:
I am exhausted. My legs ache so much it burns. It has been a successful day. It has been worth it. Today was the 60th Anniversary, the one that has been taking over my life. I got thanked in the speeches, and individually by about 30 people. And, I got given a beautiful bouquet of flowers. There are peachy orange roses, frangipanies, white roses... it smells and looks beautiful. I'm chuffed.

1, 2, 3, Cha, Cha, Cha...
Posted by Annalise
at 9:14 AM:
So, it seems as if dance classes is becoming a wee success. Last week I went with Megan, and this week I persuaded Brad. Last week we did a bit of the Cha Cha and a bit of "Rock". This week we did a bit of Salsa (or maybe it was Samba; why do I always get them confused?) and a bit of Jive. It's turning out to be lots of fun.
We went for Tapas at The Stables on Elliot, both weeks. Yum. I love that place.

Easy Virtue
Posted by Annalise
at 5:11 PM:
Yesterday I watched Easy Virtue at The Lido Theatre (my favourite because of the posh, comfy couches and wonderful wine selection). It's a wonderful movie set in the 1950s with Colin Firth. Just my cup of tea. And based on a play apparently. Very good; I definitely recommend it.
After the movie Megan and I went out for a drink with her friend who's up from Rotorua. We ended up at The Occidental, checking out the very cute, very Irish waiter.
